Salary sacrifice cars are subject to Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax, which is based on factors including the car's value, emissions and your tax rate.

The amount depends on the car you choose as it depends on the cost of the vehicle, it’s CO₂ emissions and your tax band. The lower the emissions of the car, the more tax and National Insurance you can save, as there are huge savings available for zero-emitting vehicles.

If a benefit is taxed at source, the Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax due has already been deducted before you receive the benefit. For salary sacrifice cars, this means your employer manages the tax through payroll, so there is usually no action required from you.

You normally start paying Benefit in Kind tax once you've taken delivery of your car, this is included within your quote and will be part of the deduction for the car – you won't pay anything separately.

Salary Sacrifice is where employees can sacrifice a fixed amount of their salary each month in exchange for a brand new car.The amount is taken before income tax and National Insurance, so employees and businesses can save on the contributions they pay. The set monthly amount includes comprehensive car insurance, road tax, breakdown cover, MOT, maintenance, replacement tyres and accident assistance.

The Salary Sacrifice Scheme is between the Employer and the Employee and the vehicle contract is between the Employer and the leasing company.

Fully comprehensive insurance, annual road fund licence (road tax), replacement tyres, routine servicing and maintenance, MOTs, full RAC breakdown cover and lifestyle protections should you need to end the agreement early under certain circumstances.

Our car scheme is designed to offer you a complete motoring package, however it doesn’t include fuel, payment of fines, engine oil, AdBlue top-ups outside of servicing, damage due to driver misuse or excess mileage charges.

There are three options; order a new car which will be delivered as the current one is collected, return the vehicle, or buy the car for its market value.

No, we don’t require a deposit. The first amount is deducted from the driver’s salary from the month delivery is made. This will be confirmed by the employer.

You can order a salary sacrifice car through the Tusker Driver Portal. Compare cars, view your monthly costs and Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax, then submit your request for employer approval.

Once approved, we place your order with the manufacturer and provide updates throughout the process. You can track your car's progress online until it's ready for delivery.

Check your new car thoroughly with the delivery agent and report any damage immediately on the delivery note. Contact us as soon as possible so that we can help resolve the reported damage quickly.

No. Your car road tax is included and arranged on your behalf as part of your Tusker agreement.

Yes. Before travelling, you'll need a Car on Hire Certificate (VE103B), which you can get from the RAC. Call us on the Driverline (0333 400 2020) and we’ll put you through to them.

You need to give the car back with   all the keys, documents and accessories it came with, showing only fair wear and tear in line with BVRLA guidelines.

Fair wear and tears are the natural deterioration expected through normal use. Any damage outside BVRLA guidelines may result in a re-charge.

We work with employers to offer a range of lifestyle protections should an employees’ circumstances change such as maternity or paternity leave, redundancy, resignation and long-term sickness so that there are no early termination fees due. If you have a Tusker car with us through a salary sacrifice scheme, please check your scheme policy to understand what is and isn't included.

You can arrange a pre-booked tyre replacement or a mobile tyre replacement service through Kwik Fit. Emergency tyre support is also available through the RAC.

It’s your responsibility to let HMRC know that you have a car on salary sacrifice. Usually, your employer will do that for you, but you should check as if not, you’ll be liable for any underpaid tax.

A ULEV (“ultra-low-emission-vehicle”) is a car that emits less than 75g/km of CO₂. Electric cars are one type of ULEV, alongside some hybrids.

Electric cars can often result in lower running costs compared to a Petrol or Diesel alternative. They also result in lower Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax.

The cost of an EV charger can vary from supplier to supplier, so we always recommend doing your research first. Grants may be available for eligible households, and you can research this on the Government website.

In most cases, yes. Although most reputable installers will complete a survey prior to installation to confirm the suitability of your specific property.

Yes, provided you have the homeowner's permission and suitable off-street parking. If you live in a flat or are renting your property you may be eligible for the Governments Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme which provides a 75% contribution to the cost of one chargepoint and its installation. Charging times range from around 20 minutes on rapid chargers to overnight on home chargers, depending on the car and charger type and the remaining battery percentage.

All electric cars need an MOT after three years (UK) and four years (NI), just like petrol and diesel cars.
